Level of employment: 75 % (30 hours/week)

Minimum salary: € 39,005.40 per annum (gross); classification according to collective agreement: Uni-KV: B1

The Department of Statistics is embedded into the university’s area of key research strength “Multiple Perspectives in Optimization (MPOpt)” and it participates in the thematic doctoral programme “Modeling – Analysis – Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems”.

This position serves the professional and scientific education of graduates of a Master's or Diploma programme with the aim of completing a Doctoral/Ph.D. programme in the field of mathematics/statistics. Applications from persons who already have a relevant Doctorate or Ph.D. in the subject area cannot be considered.

Area of responsibility

  • Scientific work including the publication of research articles in the field of Bayesian statistics/econometrics
  • Active participation in the research activities of the research area and at international conferences
  • Teaching at Bachelor’s and Master’s level including service teaching
  • Participation in public relations and third mission activities

Requirements

  • Master’s degree completed at a domestic or foreign higher education institution in statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Background in one or more of the following fields: Bayesian statistics, Bayesian econometrics, computational statistics, high-dimensional inference
  • Programming skills (e.g., R, Julia, Python, Matlab, C/C++, …)
  • Fluency in English

Desired skills

  • Good scientific communication and presentation skills
  • Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for imparting knowledge
  • Ability to work in a diverse team
  • Didactic skills and tutoring or teaching experience
  • Fluency in German

The employment contract is concluded for the position as university assistant (predoctoral) and stipulates a starting salary of € 2,786.10 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognised in accordance with the collective agreement).
